Gail Cargiulo - Founder
Gail Cargiulo grew up in Bronx, NY. As a teen, she studied dance with Charles Kelley, Alvin Alley, Frank Hatchet, Merce Cunningham, and Luigi. She raised four children in Freehold, NJ, with her husband Bill. Her daughter Karen runs the dance studio today.
For twelve years, she was employed at the Freehold YMCA teaching aerobics, gymnastics, and pre-school dance classes, as well as four years working at The Dance Workshop in Freehold. In 1985, Gail opened the Gallery of Dance in Pond Road Shopping Center, and two years later moved the dance school to our current location on Throckmorton Street. Gail taught all styles of dance and passed on her love of dance to hundreds of children over the years.
Karen Cargiulo Dolan – Director and Business Manager
Karen Dolan started taking dance at the age of three in New York. She continued to taking dance at Rowan University and graduated with a BA in Public Relations.
In 1992, Karen returned to work at the Gallery of Dance, where she was office manager/director and now owner. She enjoys the diversity that her job brings: from running the office and scheduling classes and competitions, to working closely with parents and students to foster a positive environment. Her focus is ensuring Gallery students receive top-notch training, which means recruiting the best dance instructors with diversified backgrounds and talents.
Karen has traveled with her students across the United States from Florida to Las Vegas, and she has had the pleasure of watching many Gallery students grow up to become successful dancers, dance teachers, and strong professional women who are leaders in their fields. She has raised two boys of her own in Manalapan, NJ, with her husband Eddie.
Krista Warenkiewicz (Miss Krista)
Krista was classically trained in jazz and ballet at Studio Workshop in Lyndhurst, NJ owned by a broadway family. By the age of 13 she became an assistant teacher in jazz and pre-ballet classes. Krista then went on to minor in dance at Brookdale Community College where she was trained in modern and lyrical and became part of the Brookdale Dance Ensemble, performing in local theaters. Krista then was trained in the art of tap under Steve Tomlinson. She was an instructor at the Turning Pointe Dance Center as well as Marlboro Dance Academy and attended many competitions in the area. She also attended master classes under Mia Michaels, Chris Judd,Paula Abdul and the Radio City Rockettes.
Krista was also a choreographer and performer for Jeffrey Craig Entertainment for 10 yrs as well as being the dance director for Country Roads Camp for 4 yrs. She was a judge for Elite Dance Forum in NJ. Krista is also our licensed Zumba instructor where she teaches adults and students alike the fun fitness craze!
Krista brings her love of dance and positive energy to Gallery.... Where she teaches her students confidence, strength, friendship and the passion for dance!
Tara grew up as a competitive dancer. She trained at studios including Princeton Repertory Ballet School, New Jersey Ballet, BDC and her local dance studio growing up. Upon graduating high school, she received a dance scholarship to Marymount Manhattan College. Tara had the opportunity to be a featured dancer at Disney’s Magic Kingdom as well as the Big Red Boat and Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines. She also has been a part of multiple off-broadway productions including Movin’ Out, Anything Goes, Oklahoma! and 42nd Street.
In 2004, Tara became a member of the NBA’s NJ Nets Dance Team and later was part of the NY Titans and Brooklyn Cyclones Dance Teams. For three years, Tara was part of the TapOle’ Dance Company, affiliated with Blue Star Productions performing in various commercials and Univision 41 morning shows. In correlation with her dance career, Tara choreographs and teaches in the tri-state area. She also has been in commercials for MTV, Suave and Clearasil.
Tara's dancers and routines have won numerous awards at the Gallery of Dance. In the past years she won "Best Choreography", "High Score Award" and her dancers received many Platinum and High Scores.
Sarah is a graduate of the American Music and Dramatic Academy in NYC as a dance theatre major. She has performed in One Last Shot as a featured singer and dancer under the direction of Cynthia Murray-Davis. She grew up dancing at the Dance Carousel located in Spotswood, New Jersey under the direction of Jeanne Keane. She has been teaching tap, jazz, ballet, modern, contemporary, musical theater and acro. We are very excited to have Miss Sarah teaching at the Gallery!
April Saccomondo began dancing at the age of 3. She studied jazz, tap, ballet and lyrical. She danced competitively for 10 years. At the age of 10 she began studying voice and theatre as well. She went on to study at Rider University where she graduated with a double major in elementary education and theatre along with a minor in dance. While in college April was able to intern for the Daryl Roth Theatre, an off Broadway theatre in Manhattan. There she was able to help and observe everything that went on with the production of a show. April taught dance classes at a local dance school for four years during college. She taught Jazz, tap and lyrical to students from 2-17. She also choreographed school plays for many middle and high schools. After graduating, she embarked on her teaching career where she taught grades k-3 for five years. While teaching she continued to choreograph school plays and coach the school dance team.
Jessica graduated from the Rutgers Mason Gross School of the Arts with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance. She has taught dancers of all ages ballet, lyrical and contemporary. She has been teaching beginner to advanced levels of ballet. She also has experience teaching all levels of lyrical, jazz and contemporary. Miss Jessica is looking forward to sharing her love of ballet to our Gallery students.
Amanda Pirrotta grew up as a competitive dancer, training at Gallery of Dance. Although she has a passion for all forms of dance, Amanda is primarily trained in ballet, pointe, modern, tap, jazz, contemporary, hip hop and aerial dance.
Amanda continued her dance education at Towson University, where she received a BFA in Dance Performance and Choreography. During her time at Towson, she performed with the Towson University Pom Squad and the Towson University Dance Company. Professionally, Amanda performed in shows at Six Flags Great Adventure for three seasons. She has also been sharing her love for dance with students- choreographing and teaching competitive dance teams in Maryland- for three years.
Amanda is thrilled to be coming back to the studio she called home for so many years and we are so excited to have her back!
Moriah Torres has been a part of the Gallery family for 17 years. She has made the exciting transition from being a student to an assistant and teacher. Moriah has studied ballet, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, and hip hop. She has danced with a dance ministry in Somerset New Jersey. She has also studied modern during 2010 at the Work of Art. She was brought up with the art of dance by her mother Michelle Hackworth, also a well known respected teacher at Gallery of Dance.
Her desire is to teach each student a strong foundation of dance expression and explore various forms of hip hop and jazz. Moriah brings joy and love for dance as well as respect to each and everyone. She hopes to help the students find a true passion for dance as she does. We are so happy to have Miss Moriah as a part of our Gallery of Dance Family.
Joey returned from the west coast with gained experience of the commercial dance industry, he is now ready to spread his knowledge and passion for dance across the east coast. Growing up on the Jersey shore, he trained intensively at his studio while attending dance competitions and convention classes.
After graduating from High school, Joey made the move to California where he attended Hussian College in Los Angeles, studying commercial dance. While in California he was a featured dancer in "Still" choreographed by James Tabeek, Patee Sarasin's Civil War music video, and even had the opportunity of starring as a featured ballet dancer & choreographer for the recently released film "I’ll Meet You There" directed by Iram Parveen.
Since returning to the east coast, Joey has begun working for a dance competition, Judging for a pageant & talent competition, and teaching at multiple dance studios in New Jersey and New York.
Joey is devoted to providing a positive dance education to help dancers build confidence & achieve their goals!
Miss Marcy is thrilled to be returning to the staff of Gallery of Dance and Movement Studios. Marcy began dancing at the age of 3 and has studied with respected teachers throughout the tri-state area. She studied Theatre and Dance at Ithaca College. After graduation, Marcy enjoyed a career as a performer.
Credits include the national tour of South Pacific and sailing the seas as an entertainer for Holland America Line, as well as numerous musicals. She transitioned into teaching and has taught creative movement, ballet, tap and jazz at studios in Massachusetts, Pennsylvania and New Jersey. In addition to dance and theatre, Marcy is passionate about animals, books, and yoga. She is the proud mother of 2 beautiful children, Mia and Matthew.
Michelle Hackworth has a passion for cultivating the love of dance while building up each student. She specializes in the young dancer. Michelle teaches the fundamentals of dance with creativity and joy. Each dancer is encouraged to express themselves through movement. Her classroom is caring and she expects her students to respect, uplift and car for one another as well.
Michelle studied ballet, tap, jazz, modern and liturgical dance. She began dancing at age 3 following in her sister’s footsteps and has never stopped. In addition, she received an AAS degree in American Sign Language for Interpreting. She attended a local dance studio owned and instructed by a former Rockette, where she grew up in Bethpage, NY. She continued studying dance at USDAN Summer Camp for the Arts in Wheatley Heights, New York for many years. In 1999, she began dancing with a liturgical group at Faith Fellowship World Outreach. Michelle continues to lead other in liturgical dance at Zarephath Christian Church.
Michelle has been teaching for 20 years. She taught at Dance plus in Port Charlotte, Florida, led the dance program at New York Club in East Brunswick, New Jersey until she found her home at The Gallery of Dance in 2001. Michelle had been mentored by Gail Cargiulo further developing her teacher skills. She has seen many of her baby’s students grow into amazing beautiful dancers inside and out!
Carolyn is excited to be teaching at Gallery of Dance again. Carolyn grew up dancing from the age of 3, competed for over 10 years, and won numerous titles. She then, continued her education at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy of NYC as a Dance Theatre major. She worked professionally for many years. National tour credits include: Super Why Live: Alpha Pig, Fisher Prince Live: Koby, Jim Henson's Sid the Science Kid Live: May, Jim Henson's Sid the Science Kid Live, Let's Play: Sid/Puppet Captain, Sesame Street Live Make a New Friend: Chamki, Sesame Street Live Let's Dance: Small Understudy (Elmo, Abby, Grover, Ernie, Zoe, Rosita, and Singer Riley) Concert credits include: Glen Burtnik's Summer Bash. Off Off Broadway credits include: Homo the Musical: Cheerleader #1, Mary Howling: Dancer. Theme Park credits include: RWS associates: Wild Jack's Last Stand: Jesse Flynt, Rockin on Route 66: Brittany. Carolyn is now attending school for her CADC certification and enjoying being a new mom. Carolyn is looking forward to this year, ready to teach and inspire her students, as well as work alongside with her younger sister, Miss Sarah
